Yeah I wouldn't mind reading the books; I bet the books are pretty good. Though wait how many books are there? Just one? And does the movie plot end shortly after where the movie ended? Like, did they just flake out on the ending just to pump out another crappy sequel?

Also, the ending of the book is amazing, why they didnt use it in the movie and went with the lame ass cutoff before the ending boggles my mind. I guess that's what you get when you let the director of American Pie make a big-budget SFX epic.

Don't let the movie deter you from reading the books, they are amazing, and superior to just about any fantasy series I've read. In fact, all of them. Yes, including the highly overrated Lord of the Rings books, which are entertaining, but not really about anything. Decent entertainment, extremely weak literature.

Anyways, one of my friends said it seems like the movie was made by somebody who read the book ten years ago and then tried to make a movie from that memory, while drunk. Which I feel is an accurate description.
